It has been five months since we quietly acquired AroundandAboutSanDiego.com, a site that offers virtual tours of things to do in San Diego. Over the summer we tasked our intern, Isaac Ramirez, to port the site into wordpress. Last month we created a contest on 99designs for a new logo.

How 99designs Works
You submit a brief with all of the things you want and don’t want to see. You decide how much you want to pay and designers who are interested in your contest get to work and submit their designs. We were pleasantly surprised by the effort some of the designers put into the contest, we gave everyone feedback and some designers came up with a few designs. When the contest was almost over we had our favorites but we quickly gravitated towards this last minute submission.

And the Prize Goes To
We awarded the prize to jetpix after learning that that our friend, Rob Burns, who was the founder of AroundandAboutSanDiego.com, liked the same design as us. After the contest, I asked jetpix to make a few changes and he happily updated the logo. I highly recommend trying out 99designs if you need a new logo. Rob did, check out his new logo for foodphotoblog.com.

We have a lot in store for AroundandAboutSanDiego.com. Now that the new logo is done, we can finish up the new site design and add new content.
